“Aaah Collioure!” say those who have discovered it. The jewel of the Côte Vermeille is a sunny Catalan village, nestling among vineyards at the very foot of the Pyrenees on the Mediterranean coast, close to the Spanish border. Guest comment: “to sum up, after many years of visiting France, Collioure is simply one of the best places we have visited.” If you’re looking for accommodation in a Collioure house or apartment ours is the perfect place for your holiday let.

The village is rich in history with its  Château Royal dominating the little harbour, and with the ancient Fort St Elme high on the hillside overlooking the bay.

Guest view: “the cottage is in a fantastic location so we only really used the car once or twice – so much nicer than other holidays where we have had to drive everywhere.”

The house, once a fisherman’s cottage, is in a quiet pedestrian street which leads down to the heart of the Faubourg, with its promenade, beaches and restaurants set against the backdrop of the mediaeval castle. Guest comment:   “We found the location of the house ideal for the beach, restaurants and very comfortable for the whole family.”

Artist’s view

Beloved of artists because of its light – over 320 days of sunshine – Matisse, Derain,  Picasso, Dufy, Chagall, Marquet, Rennie Mackintosh and many others have immortalised Collioure in paint.

Restaurants by church

Food and wine feature in Collioure life. A plethora of restaurants serve Catalan and other dishes and the prestigious local wines. Guest comment:“the house is great, the bay and town are beautiful and the restaurants are a gourmet’s paradise.  We will return.”
